Welcome to Jems and Pearls Line Dancing.

Line dancing became popular in the UK in the early 80's and was brought over from America, along with the American genre of country music and attire , ie. hats, boots, jeans and shirts. The dancing steps have, in the main, remained the same, however the music and style of dance has changed dramatically over the recent years.

As a result of the change, Linedancing has split into 3 fractions,
1) Country and Western Linedance which is still everyone's perception of how we dance, ie the original country style dance and wear,
2) There is what we call mainstream line dance/ Modern Line Dancing and this is danced to popular chart music,
3) New Line dance - this is quite advanced dancing and to quite funky music.

I teach Mainstream/Modern line dance and we dance to artists such as Meghan Trainor, Jess Glynne, Enrique Iglesias, Tinie Tempah, Jason Derulo, Charlie Puth, Westlife and many many more, I do teach to some country music but the main genre is mixed as it would be in the current download charts.

I teach all levels of dance from Absolute Beginners to Advanced, So there is something for everybody. I currently teach in all different areas in and around Shropshire. I teach in Newcastle-under-lyme, Staffordshire, Newport in Shropshire, Madeley in Crewe and Upton in Chester.

I like to think that when you come to a Jems and Pearls Class, you learn through a lot of laughter and fun, I strongly believe that fun is the best way to learn to dance. Linedancers have an amazing social life once you have some basic beginner dances under your belt you can try your new moves on a dancefloor near you. Just ask where there is a social on near you and I will be able to let you know. One of the good things about linedancing is that you don’t need a Partner, because you dance in a line, so this is the ideal time to come with your best friends, or, if you are new to the area, this is the best way to make new friends.

Line dancing is a very gentle form of exercise, very good for the heart and mind and the social aspect is good for the soul.
